The Mammoth Hot Springs Campground is operated by the National Park Service and is the only campground inside the park that is open year-round. Located just minutes from Mammoth Village, this campground is nestled in a mostly open area of sagebrush and some trees. Across from the campground on the other side of the Gardner River, Mt. Everts and its jagged rocky slopes will cast shadows in the early morning light. Elk are frequently spotted wandering through the campground and grazing around the area. In the fall, the bugling calls of bull elk is a pleasant sound, as they wander around the Mammoth area. Also at the campground is an outdoor amphitheatre where nightly talks and programs are presented by Park Rangers in the summer. Just down the road from this conveniently located campground is the popular Boiling River Swimming Area or try your luck at spotting one of the bighorn sheep that frequent the Gardner Canyon just north of the campground on the North Entrance road. Ammenities and groceries are not far away in either direction, with Mammoth Village being just a minute or two drive away and the Gateway Town of Gardiner, MT being less than 5 miles north just outside of the North Entrance.
