Located just over a mile from Roosevelt Lodge, the Yellowstone Picnic Area is one of three designated picnic areas on the Northeast Entrance Road. There are 9 picnic tables and a restroom at this site. There are beautiful views all around and old growth trees in the picnic area provide plenty of shade on a hot summer afternoon. Lamar Valley is not too far down the road, making this a great spot to stop and have a snack before seeking out wildlife in the Valley. There is also a trailhead for Specimen Ridge, Amethyst Mountain and Lamar River hiking trails.
