Well, if you like fishing, swimming, and great views, then you'll really like the Madison Campground, located just barely west of Madison Junction on the West Entrance Road. This is a very popular campground, one of the reasons being because it is only about 14.0 miles from the West Entrance which is one of the busiest entrances into Yellowstone. Other reasons being that it is just a short stroll away from the Madison River where campers enjoy fishing and swimming on warm summer days. Just on the other side of the river, looking out over the campground is National Park Mountain, the spot where rumors of an unconfirmed tale suggests that the idea for National Parks was born during a conversation amongst early explorers. Also, within a short walk from the campground is the Madison Information/Jr. Ranger Station where knowledgeable rangers can help answer your questions and keep you updated on road conditions, weather, and other useful information. An outdoor amphitheatre hosts many visitors in the evening where nightly Ranger Talks about Yellowstone take place. Oh yeah, and the campsites are really nice too. Each one has a fire ring and picnic table for your convenience and some campsites can accommodate large RVs and others are reserved for tents only.
