WINTER IN YELLOWSTONE

.jpg)
The beautiful thing about winter in Yellowstone is that even if you've been here in the summer, it still seems as though you're in a completely different place. Waterfalls and rivers are frozen in place, while pillows of thick snow cover boulders and rocky ledges. Animals are easy to spot as their thick winter coats contrast against the smooth blankets of snow. The water and steam from thermal features freezes to nearby pine trees, contorting them in strange ways under all that snow and ice.
Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, guided snowmobile tours, and guided snow coach tours are available as a means to seeing Wonderland in the winter. The Old Faithful Snow Lodgeand Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel are the two lodging facilities inside the park that are open in the winter, along with a dining room with hot food and drinks to warm you up at each of those locations. Several lodging options are also available outside of the park in the Gateway Towns as well.
